Instructor Workflow

Grading Quizzes

Grading Quizzes:

All quizzes on SimCare AI are automatically graded by AI, giving instructors a fast starting point for reviewing student performance. From there, instructors can edit scores, compare multiple attempts, and control when feedback is released.

This page covers everything you need to know about grading, adjusting, and managing quiz submissions.

AI Grading (Default)

As soon as a student submits a quiz:

  • Multiple Choice and True/False questions are graded based on correct answers

  • Short Answer questions are scored using the AI grader, which compares student responses to the model answers you provided

  • A total score is automatically calculated for each attempt

These scores are saved but can be edited at any time by the instructor.

Manual Edits & Overrides

You can change any AI-generated score:

  • Open a student’s quiz submission

  • Click on a specific question to review their response

  • Manually input a new score if needed

  • Optionally leave written feedback on individual questions

Click Save Grades when you're done reviewing the submission.

Reviewing Multiple Attempts

If students are allowed more than one attempt:

  • You’ll see all attempts listed under that student’s submission

  • Click to switch between attempts and grade each individually

  • SimCare automatically selects the highest-scoring attempt to display to the student once grades are released

You may override this by selecting a different attempt manually before saving.

Grade All (Batch Grading)

Click “Grade All” to enter the bulk grading flow:

  • Review each student’s quiz in sequence

  • Accept the AI scores or edit them on the spot

  • Navigate quickly between students with arrow keys or dropdown

  • Once done, click Save Grades at the top to apply all changes

This view is ideal for high-volume courses or fast review sessions.

Regrading Assignments
SimCare allows inline regrading:
  • Scores are always editable, even after initial grading

  • If you want to adjust a score later (e.g., after updating model answers or rubric expectations), just reopen the submission

  • Update the score for any question and click Save Grades — no reset needed

This makes it easy to correct or fine-tune evaluations at any point in the course.

Releasing Feedback to Students

Quiz grades and feedback are not shown to students automatically.

To release:

  1. Go to the Submissions tab for the quiz

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to a student’s name

  3. Select “Release Feedback”

Students will then be able to see their final score, selected attempt, and any written feedback you’ve added.
