Instructor Workflow
Creating Quizzes
Creating quizzes:
SimCare AI makes it easy for instructors to create custom quizzes that assess comprehension, reinforce readings, or follow up on simulation cases. Quizzes are fully configurable, support multiple question types, and include optional AI grading support for short answers.
All quiz setup happens in a single interface, where you can set quiz parameters, add questions, and publish when ready.
Quiz Setup
To create a quiz:
Navigate to your Class
Go to the Assignments tab
Click “Create Assignment” and select Quiz
You'll be prompted to fill in the following quiz details:
Field | Description |
Quiz Name | The title students will see (e.g., “Week 3: Empathy & Technique”) |
Description | Optional instructions or context for the quiz |
Due Date | The calendar date when the quiz must be submitted |
Due Time | The cutoff time on the due date |
Time Limit | Optional limit in minutes (e.g., 30 min) — timer starts when student begins |
Number of Attempts | Allow one or multiple tries (e.g., “2 attempts allowed”) |
Once these are set, click Next to begin adding questions.
Adding Questions
You can mix and match the following question types:
1. Multiple Choice
Enter the question text
Add 2–5 answer choices
Select the correct answer
Optionally include an explanation for the answer
2. True/False
Enter a statement or fact
Mark as either True or False
Use for quick checks on knowledge or factual recall
3. Short Answer
Enter a question that requires a free-text response
Optionally input one or more model answers
The AI Grader will use these to assess similarity and relevance in student responses
You can review AI scoring and override it if needed
💡 Tip: You can re-order questions by dragging them into a new position.
AI Grading (Short Answer Support)
When model answers are provided for short answer questions, SimCare’s built-in AI Grader will:
Compare student responses to your ideal answers
Evaluate for semantic accuracy, depth, and clarity
Assign a provisional score (visible in your grading dashboard)
You always have the option to review and adjust AI-assigned grades before releasing them.
Final Steps
Once your quiz is built:
Choose to publish immediately or save as a draft (Published assignments can be unpublished to drafts)
After publishing, the quiz becomes visible to enrolled students
Students will see the due date, time limit, and number of allowed attempts. Once submitted, their responses will be stored for grading.
