Instructor Workflow
Grading Case Assignments
Grading Case Assignments:
Case assignments on SimCare AI are automatically evaluated using AI-powered tools—but final grading is always in the instructor’s hands. You can grade all submissions at once, review multiple attempts per student, override AI evaluations, and provide detailed feedback including transcript-level comments.
This page outlines how to review, score, and release grades for simulated case interactions.
AI-Powered Evaluation (First Pass)
After a student completes a case, SimCare automatically:
Scores the selected skills based on your checklist
Annotates the transcript with suggested strengths and improvement points
This gives instructors a starting point, but all final grading is customizable.
Manual Grading & Feedback
To grade a student’s submission:
Click on View Submissions (the eye) on the assignment
Click on the student’s name or “Grade All” to enter grading mode
For each attempt, you’ll need to:
1. Select a Grade Level
Choose one of the following overall performance ratings:
Excellent
Proficient
Satisfactory
Needs Improvement
Unsatisfactory
This grade level will be shown to the student and recorded in class analytics. If a student has multiple attempts, the highest grade level will be counted as their final performance marker.
2. Provide Written Feedback
Write a short summary summarizing:
What the student did well
What needs improvement
What to focus on in future sessions
This feedback is required before saving the grade.
Reviewing Multiple Attempts
If multiple attempts were allowed:
All attempts will be visible to you
You can toggle between attempts in the grading view
Assign a grade level and feedback to each
Students can see all of their graded attempts. However, the highest grade level will be shown prominently in their progress dashboard.
Annotated Transcript Comments
Every case includes an AI-annotated transcript with suggested comments linked to specific moments.
As the grader, you can:
Accept All AI Comments
Accept All + Add Your Own
Ignore AI and Manually Annotate
These inline comments help students understand exactly where in the conversation they excelled or struggled. AI/System comments will not be saved.
You can click directly into any moment in the transcript to add or edit a comment.
Grade All (Batch Grading)
From the case assignment dashboard, click “Grade All” to review every submission in one flow.
Navigate quickly between students and attempts
Accept AI comments and grade levels on the fly
Input summary feedback and click Save
Ideal for handling large cohorts or end-of-week grading sprints.
Feedback Release (Instant)
Unlike quizzes, case assignment feedback is released immediately upon saving the grade.
Once you assign a grade level, input feedback, and annotate the transcript:
Click Publish Grade
The student will instantly receive access to their grade, feedback, and all transcript comments
This creates a seamless feedback loop that supports real-time learning.
